Week 13 Preview

Keep losing every week? Check out this helpful guide to reverse the trend!

Welcome back aboard the burning ship. This is where you can find some helpful tips so you can salvage your dumpster fire of a team in week 13.

This weeks starting roster:

  • Schedule Scout

  • Players to Poach

  • Last Week In Review

IR Implications

Who got hurt. When are the comping back. Who is going to take advantage while they're away. Considering IR implications when making streaming decisions is one of the best ways to level up your weekly performance.

Max Pacioretty (CAR - LW - 52%). Pacioretty has shed the non-contact jersey and coach Brind'Amour said his season debut will take likely take place within 10 games. The hurricanes are rolling having won 10 straight going into Sundays contest so they won't be in a rush to bring back Patches. During Practice he skated on the second line and second powerplay but don't expect the sniper to stay off PP1 for long. Expect a boost to Svechnikov and Necas on return and Noesen to get bumped off PP1 if practice lines stick.

Jakub Vrana (DET - LW - 40%) Vrana started his conditioning stint with the AHL affiliate on Wednesday. His return from the player assistance program will be imminent and he'll likely claim a top 6 role and powerplay time. With the Red Wings struggling to bring offence this season Vrana is in position to shake up the lineup on return. He has some promising career numbers for a young forward generally pacing as a 60 point forward throughout his career despite playing limited minutes. Keep an eye on his ice-time because anything over 14-15 minutes would lead to significant upside.

Trevor Moore (LAK - LW/RW - 17%) Moore is having a solid campaign by his standards and is listed 'out' and expected to miss a week. With Kaliyev also placed on IR recently there is opportunity on the wing on the Kings. Quinton Byfield looks to be taking on an increasing role on the 1st line alongside Kopitar as well as PP2 time and could be a low floor high ceiling stream in deeper leagues.

Torey Krug (STL - D - 57%) Now on LT-IR with a lower body injury which is unfortunate given he was heating up with 5 assists (3PP) in 4 games before injury. Faulk is skating with the first powerplay unit in his absence and would be a solid pickup in most leagues if available.

Morgan Rielly (TOR - D - 95%) Rielly returned to action in his usual role this week which pretty much nullifies any good streaming options from the Leafs blueline. Look to target Mo in a trade if his owner is disgruntled. While putting up a strong point pace he's been held goal less and is due for some positive regression.

Schedule Scout

Games played matters. A lot. Take a look at which teams are playing, and when so that you can optimize your roster for most games played. It's simple math folks, more games = more points.

With the first normal week after 2, Anaheim takes the cake with strongest schedule with 3 off-nights and 4 games total. However, there are lots of options with 7 teams having 4 game weeks. consider these options:

On the other side, avoid these teams who only play twice. If you're holding a streamer they're more than likely worth the drop for someone on a team mentioned above.

Players to Poach

Since you had no idea what to do with the information above. I'll break down a couple options you should consider as you fill out your streaming spots this week. These will vary depending on league size and categories so keep your head on a swivel.

Adam Henrique (C, LW) 7% Rostered Yahoo

Optimal Schedule, CHECK. 1st line minutes, CHECK. 1st line powerplay, CHECK. Duel position eligibility, CHECK. Not much else to say, Henrique is steady and you should feel confident plugging him into your lineup for four games this week.

Alternatives on the Ducks:

  • Cam Fowler (D - 13%). While not putting up much over the last 12 games (4 points) Fowler has the exact deployment you should be looking for in a D streamer. Heavy minutes and top powerplay. Strong stream if he fits in your lineup all 4 nights.

  • Mason McTavish (C, LW). The duel position should help him fit in the lineup on all 4 matchups. Powerplay 1 time is where the upside comes in.

Last Week in Review

In this segment I bury my head in the ground (or bask in the glory) over all the pickups mentioned in the last edition, week 12 preview. Lets get into it:

Tomas Tatar (NJ - LW/RW - 13%)

Over 3 games Tatar scored 3 assists 3 shots 5 hits and 3 blocks which would have been great category coverage in a banger cats league. Not bad for a stream.

Erik Haula (NJ - C/LW - 14%)

Haula put up 2 assists 4 PIM 3 shots 2 hits and 4 blocks. Decent stream with good category coverage. This is the sort of decent stream that chips away in your favour for these free off-night games.

Damon Severson (NJ - D - 17%)

Despite logging heavy minutes, Severson only put up 4 PIM 4 shots 4 hits and 6 blocks in 3 games. Its hard to get production D, especially off the wire so hopefully these categories count and you were able to chip away.

Oliver Bjorkstrand (SEA - RW - 10%)

In 3 games Bjorkstrand put up 1 goal 2 PIM 6 shots 3 hits and 4 blocks. Hopefully this was all free money if you were swapping streams with someone who would have otherwise been benched.

Justin Schultz (SEA - D - 15%)

Over 3 games Schultz chipped in 3 shots and 3 blocks. Not even a single hit!? Even though they were probably free games you want to see more. This one was on us.

Jordan Eberle (SEA - RW - 23%)

In 3 games Eberle scored 2 assists and had 2 PIM 9 shots and 1 block to go with it. Decent for a stream but wasn't winning weeks on its own.
